‘Pink Dalmatian’ nearly unrecognizable two years after she was abandoned at shelter

Who doesn’t love a story with a happy ending? Well, the story of Asia, later named Pearl, has its ups and downs, but a recent update will leave you smiling ear to ear.

In 2017, an adorable dog that looked like a pink Dalmatian was dropped off at Animal Friends of the Valleys shelter in Wildomar, California. The dog, named Asia, was left with a buddy.

It was discovered that both dogs, boxers, had a treatable condition, demodectic mange.

“I felt so badly for Artie and Asia when I first saw them,” Jennifer Glover, a registered veterinary technician for the shelter, told PEOPLE. “But I was encouraged by the fact that we would be able to start helping them.”

Staff discovered that both Asia, a white 10-month-old boxer, and her buddy, Artie, a two-year-old boxer, also had some other health concerns. But after receiving treatment and lots of love they were healthy enough to move onto a rescue where they’d have a chance of finding a forever home.

Luckily, both Asia and Artie, were adopted.

However, while Artie continues to live with his forever family, Asia recently found herself back at Last Chance at Life, the all breed animal rescue where Asia and Artie were adopted from.

According to the rescue’s Facebook page, the female boxer, now named Pearl was returned because her owner became ill and could no longer take care of her.

It was a sad update for a pup whose condition captured people’s hearts. But within a month, LCAL had another update–Pearl had been adopted!

What’s even more exciting is that Pearl’s condition had improved so much since she was last at LCAL that it was like she was a different dog.

She was no longer a pink Dalmatian, but a white boxer.

Congratulations, Pearl! You look absolutely wonderful. I hope your new family gives you the best life you deserve.
