As is tradition, when a police officer retires they sign off for the final time with a 10-42 (end of tour) or 10-7 (out of service).
For K-9 Faust with BNSF Railway Police, it was no different. It didn’t matter that he was a dog, he worked just as hard as his partner, Senior Special Agent Bryan Schaffer, and deserved a special send-off.
On March 3, 2017, after eight years, Faust, a German Shepherd worked his final shift as an explosives detection canine.
Schaffer did the honors and initiated the final radio call for his partner.
It’s hard not to tear up when Faust is thanked for his eight years of service. What a good boy.
After Faust retired, Schaffer adopted the German Shepherd – there was just no other option for someone who he worked side by side for eight years.
“Faust, thank you for all the good you have done for the BNSF and other agencies – but mostly I thank you for getting us both home safe after every shift,” Schaffer said on his Facebook.
