A wild horse spent over five hours struggling to get out of a muddy pond it had become trapped in.
Thankfully it was discovered by animal heroes who spent 45 minutes trying to free the horse. Meanwhile, all the horse could think about was eating the delicious grass nearby.
This struggling foal was lucky she was discovered in time. Group members from the Help Alberta Wildies Society (HAWS) were searching for newborn foals in Alberta, Canada, when they came upon the horse.
The horse had fallen into a 6ft-deep hole and couldn’t drag itself out. Slippery ice around the hole was making it impossible to help herself.
Rescuers believe the horse had been abandoned by her herd after she got trapped.
Using ropes, winches and even a golf cart, rescuers worked hard to drag the poor horse out and it seems all the horse could think about was food.
“She just wants to eat, she’s so hungry,” one of her rescuers told Inside Edition.
When she was pulled to safety as soon as she could get away she did, to nearby pastures full of grass which she happily munched on.
These people do amazing work to help wild horses in this area. Thank goodness they were in the right place at the right time to save this horse.
