Wherever Texas truck driver Matthew goes his trusted companion goes with him and no we’re not talking about a human or a dog here but Ashes the 3-year-old cat.
Matthew shares an inseparable bond with his feline friend so when Ashes got scared on a stop in Ohio and ran off into bushes the trucker was left frantic.
The heartbroken owner searched everywhere for Ashes but eventually had to face the devastating reality that he had lost him.
Matthew had to get back on the road but over the next few months always made an effort to drive through the area where his beloved Ashes went missing in case he showed up.
Three months after he lost Ashes animal lover Kimberly was out in freezing cold temperatures when she noticed a cat struggling to put its paws on the snowy ground.
Kimberly took Ashes to her car and drove him to animal rescue organization Lollypop Farm.
Thankfully, Ashes had a microchip that revealed Matthew’s details and staff were shocked to see Ashes’ address.
“Our Admissions Team immediately scanned for a microchip, as they do with all incoming pets. Not only did he have one, but he had an owner who had registered him under a Texas address that was over 1,465 miles away! This was one cross-country kitty,” said the organization.
Matthew couldn’t hold back the tears when he was reunited with his beloved Ashes and called him his “Christmas miracle.”
The organization shared a picture of the tearful reunion on its Instagram page and thousands reacted.
I can’t imagine how desperate Matthew must have been to find his sweet cat. Thank goodness he had him microchipped so wonderful organizations like Lollypop Farm can reunite animal lovers with their furry friends.
