Puppy dumped for his imperfections – owner ‘doesn’t care if he’s put down’

There are many reasons why animals find themselves dumped at shelters but one dog’s only crime was his imperfections.

The American Staffordshire Terrier was only 8 weeks old when he was dumped at a rural shelter in North Carolina.

When his owners dropped him off they told shelter staff they didn’t care if he was put down.

The sweet puppy, later named Captain Morgan, had ears that didn’t match and was blind in one eye.

“After a full vet check-up, this snuggler (man, he loves to snuggle!) has a clean bill of health, despite having a wonky eye and ears that don’t match in size,” Cause for Paws staff wrote on their Facebook page.

“From what we can tell, he can’t see out of the one eye, but can hear fine from the smaller ear. He also has a slight underbite, but again, we think that’s what makes this love bug so darling!”

The vet didn’t think any of these so-called “imperfections” would cause any long-term issues for Captain Morgan and staff believe he is the product of an “irresponsible backyard breeder.”
