Bubbles the elephant becomes best friends with abandoned dog after poachers kill her mom and dad

It was a match made in heaven found in the unlikeliest of animals, a 9,000 pound African elephant called Bubbles and an abandoned black Labrador dog called Bella.

The unlikeliest pair met at Myrtle Beach Safari in South Carolina and have been inseparable ever since.

Bubbles came to the sanctuary in 1983 after ivory poachers left her orphaned. Meanwhile, Bella was abandoned by her owner, a contractor who was working on a pool at the sanctuary in 2007.

It wasn’t long before the two formed a special bond and now spend most of their days playing together on the 50-acre preserve.

A press release issued by the park in 2013 said: “Bella doesn’t seem to mind that her best friend is a movie star — the elephant has appeared in Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, a Janet Jackson music video and several advertisements.

“To Bella, Bubbles is simply her much-larger companion, whose 9,000-pound body often doubles as the dog’s diving board.”

Bubbles was rescued in Africa after her parents were both found killed by poachers during a 20-year slaughter of these majestic animals for their ivory.

She was one of the few elephants adopted and only weighed 340 lbs and stood 42 inches tall when she first arrived at the sanctuary. Now she stands at over 9ft tall.

But despite her size she’s nothing more than a gentle giant with her best friend and throws balls with her trunk that Bella jumps off her back into the water to retrieve.

See this remarkable sight in the clip below.

I love that these two different species are such good friends, they are a wonderful example to us all.

Please share their uplifting story with all your friends and family today.
