There was a celebration of silence last week at the Humane Society for Greater Savannah, as they reached a truly fantastic milestone: every dog in their care had been adopted!
The center announced that as of 4:31 p.m. Thursday they had managed to find a new home for every single dog in the place.
Needless to say, this is an unprecedented achievement, and one that wouldn’t have been possible without the compassion and love shown by the families who decided to give up their own homes so that the dogs in question can have a second chance at life.
Celebrating the news, the center wrote on social media: “That is the sound of every single dog in our adoption center being adopted. This has never happened and we are thrilled to announce that every single dog as of 4:51 p.m. this afternoon has been adopted.
“No worries we will have more adoptable pets for you.”
The center confirmed they were to have more pets as of Friday, but I’m sure they enjoyed the fact their halls went without woofs and barks on Thursday.
Despite the fact that none of us want to see dogs being forced to find new homes, the sad truth is that it happens all the time. Each day, dogs all over the world are given up or thrown out because they’re no longer wanted.
That, of course, is completely unacceptable, but for now the best we can do is ensure these dogs go to loving shelters so that they might find their forever homes and have a second chance at life.
Join us saying a huge well done – and thank you – to the wonderful folk over at the Humane Society for Greater Savannah!
