It’s always a heartbreaking situation when a dog goes missing. You search everywhere, wondering where they could be.
But sometimes they suddenly turn up in the most unexpected places. Like one dog, who is now home safe after being spotted in a Jersey Shore bay.
Troopers from the New Jersey State Police were preparing for their shift today when they got a report about a dog who was swimming in Barnegat Bay.
The officers arrived on the scene, and were able to get the dog to safety.
Once on shore, they discovered that the dog was Chunk, a 3-year-old golden retriever who had been missing for two weeks after disappearing into the woods near F Cove.
The officers who saved him say that Chunk was reunited with his family, bringing their search to a close.
“Needless to say he was ecstatic to be reunited with his grateful owners,” New Jersey State Police wrote on Facebook.
Word of Chunk’s rescue has now gone viral on Facebook — with some users joking that the dog was just trying to get some summer vacation time in the Jersey Shore.
We’re so glad Chunk is home safe! Share this great news!
