Firefighters are always looking after everyone in their community, whether they be human or animal. When a pet is in need of help, a rescue crew will be there to save the day.
Like one firefighter crew that came to the rescue of a scared lost dog who was stuck in a storm drain.
Last Sunday was Halloween, and it was an especially frightening night for one Oklahoma City dog owner whose pet went missing.
The little dog was gone for days — until it was found stuck in a very tricky spot: a storm drain.
Getting the dog out to safety was no small task, but thankfully a special team consisting of the Oklahoma City Fire Department and OKC Animal Welfare.
Firefighters from Station 19A arrived and helped locate and rescue the “sweet little dog.”
Thankfully, the rescue mission was a success. The fire department shared a photo of two firefighters holding the dog, wrapped in a towel— and while the pet is visibly scared and shaken, it is otherwise unharmed.
“The dog was removed from the storm drain and returned to the owner in good health,” the department wrote on Facebook.
The firefighters were praised as heroes online, and OKC Animal Welfare thanked them for their assistance in the rescue.
“It’s always exciting for us to return an animal in need back to [its] home,” they wrote on Facebook. “Thank you Oklahoma City Fire Department for helping us get this little beauty out of the drain for [its] owner.”
Thank you to the Oklahoma City Fire Department and OKC Animal Welfare for coming together to save this poor dog! We’re so glad it’s safe now!
