It’s always scary when a dog goes missing, even if it’s only for a short while. But one woman’s search for her loose pup unexpectedly led to an encounter with an Oscar-winning actress who had found the dog.
Chelsea Blackwell panicked after Blue, her pet dachshund of 15 years, went missing, according to the Times Union. She worried she would never see her beloved dog again.
She drove around Albany, searching for her little dog, to no avail. “I just kept driving around asking people if they seen a small brown dog…. No one!” she wrote on Facebook. “So I just kept driving around looking and calling his name.”
She decided to drive towards the Greyhound bus terminal, and saw camera men and police cars. “I thought maybe somebody got shot,” Chelsea told the Times Union.
She continued her search, and got a surprising breakthrough: “I asked them if anyone saw a little brown dog, and they said yes, we’ll call her.”
The camera crew told her that the dog had been found — by a celebrity. Chelsea was stunned later as a car pulled up, and she saw her dog Blue in the lap of two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank!
Swank, a major Hollywood actress best known for her acclaimed performances in Million Dollar Baby and Boys Don’t Cry, was upstate filming a movie, and happened to find Chelsea’s missing dog.
“I was like, ‘No way,’” Chelsea said. “As soon as she got out of the car, I kissed Blue and said, ‘Thank you so much.’”
Chelsea asked Hilary Swank for an autograph, and instead the actress offered to take a photo. The sweet picture of the two of them, along with Blue, was shared on Facebook:
While Chelsea shared the heartwarming story, she says the star was humble about her good deed.
“She’s not the type of person who’s going to blow the horn telling people what she did,” Chelsea told the Times Union.
We’re so glad Blue is back with his owner, safe and sound! Thank you to Hilary Swank for finding him and reuniting him with Chelsea!
