Hollywood stars might seem very different from you and I, but in some ways they’re just like us — especially when it comes to their pets.
No matter how big a star you are, animals love you unconditionally, and a pet’s love can be the best thing in the world.
Recently, iconic movie star John Travolta shared a sweet video of his family’s rescue dog waking him up in the morning with plenty of love and kisses.
The Grease and Saturday Night Fever star warmed hearts earlier this year, after his family adopted a rescue dog named Mac-n-Cheese, who was featured in a tribute to the late Betty White at the Academy Awards.
The dog now belongs to the actor’s 11-year-old son, Benjamin, and has settled in to the family’s home. The dog — who has been renamed Peanut — apparently also has a strong fondness for the Pulp Fiction star.
In a video recently shared by Travolta on social media, Peanut climbs on top of the actor in bed and starts licking his face. “This is now Ben’s dog Peanut wakes me up,” Travolta captioned the video.
The actor seems to like the affection from the dog: he says “I love you” and can’t help but laugh at the dog’s kisses.
The video went viral, and many other celebrities reacted, including his daughter Ella and his Hairspray co-star Michelle Pfeiffer.
Even before getting adopted by Travolta, Peanut was seen by millions of people: the rescue dog got a major spotlight after he was featured at this year’s Oscars ceremony, held by actress Jamie Lee Curtis.
It was during the show’s in memorial segment, and the Oscars paid a special tribute to Betty White, who had died on December 31 at the age of 99. Because the late Golden Girls star was such an advocate for animals, especially rescue dogs, Curtis brought the little dog out on stage.
“She was not only a Golden Girl, she was a legend who brightened every room she walked in and brought a smile to the faces of all who watched her on the screen,” Curtis says in her tribute to White. “And day in and day out for almost a century, she was a woman who cared so much for not just her two-legged friends but for animals just like this.”
“So the greatest gift you could give Betty White is to open your heart and your home and adopt a rescue dog just like Mac-N-Cheese from Paw Works. So thank you, Betty, thank you for being a friend to us all.”
The little dog delighted audiences around the world — and made a big impression on Travolta.
The actor caught up with Curtis, his friend and co-star in the 1985 film Perfect, backstage at the Oscars and couldn’t resist getting a picture with the sweet rescue dog.
This led to Travolta deciding to adopt the dog for good for his son Benjamin, giving the Mac ‘n’ Cheese a true “Hollywood ending.”
In April, the dog was seen licking Benjamin’s face in a “Happy Easter” video message shared by Travolta, and Curtis was happy to see the rescue dog was settling in so well with his new family.
“OH MAC ‘N CHEESE IS SO HAPPY!” the Halloween star wrote on the Instagram post.
What a sweet video. We’re so glad rescue dog Peanut found such a great new home with John Travolta and his family!
