He was nothing but a hound dog looking for his forever home, and for Elvis, that moment finally came after 132 days in a Chicago shelter.
Elvis, described as a “3-year-old meatball,” appeared at The Anti-Cruelty Society’s adoption event on November 11 along with several dozen cats and dogs looking for a family to love them.
At the end of the event everyone was adopted except Elvis.
The shelter put out a cry for help, which led to Elvis capturing the hearts of the nation. In less than a week he was headed home, and with the absolute perfect family.
After four months at the shelter, Elvis was headed home with a local couple, Loren and Drew. And the match couldn’t be anymore perfect as Loren previously worked as an Elvis impersonator.
“This couple is head over heels in love with their new family member and already has a dog bed and tons of toys waiting for him at his forever home,” the shelter wrote in its final update on Elvis.
“When no one else wanted him, we found him. We’re all a bunch of misfits,” Drew.
According to ACS, Elvis arrived at the shelter as a stray. Upon examination, they noticed he was not putting any weight on his back leg. X-rays later revealed he had a fractured pelvis.
Thankfully Elvis’ fracture healed before Loren and Drew adopted him.
