John Travolta shares sweet throwback pic with rescue dog Peanut: “She’s brought the biggest joy to our family”

We love stories about famous celebrities adopting rescue dogs, but one of the most special is John Travolta and his dog Peanut. The little dog was featured at the Academy Awards in 2022 in a special tribute to Betty White, and the Grease star quickly knew it was meant to be.

More than two years after that fateful night, it’s clear that Peanut has been an amazing addition to the Travolta family. Recently, the actor shared a sweet throwback pic, writing that she’s brought the “biggest joy.”

On June 22, Travolta shared a sweet throwback photo of himself holding Peanut backstage at the Oscars in 2022.

“The day we adopted Peanut on Oscar night!” Travolta wrote. “She’s brought the biggest joy to our family.”

It was a moment that would change both of their lives: Travolta first met Peanut, then a rescue pup named Mac N Cheese, shortly after the dog had been brought on stage by actress Jamie Lee Curtis.

The memorable moment came during the Oscars’ annual “in memoriam” segment, remembering the Hollywood figures who had died in the last year. Curtis was paying tribute to Betty White, who had passed away weeks earlier.

She used the moment to pay tribute to White’s longtime advocacy for animals, carrying the dog who was then up for adoption at Paw Works.

“She was not only a Golden Girl, she was a legend who brightened every room she walked in and brought a smile to the faces of all who watched her on the screen,” Curtis said. “And day in and day out for almost a century, she was a woman who cared so much for not just her two-legged friends but for animals just like this.”

“So the greatest gift you could give Betty White is to open your heart and your home and adopt a rescue dog just like Mac-N-Cheese from Paw Works. So thank you, Betty, thank you for being a friend to us all.”

The little dog delighted audiences around the world — and made a big impression on Travolta. The actor caught up with Curtis, his friend and co-star in the 1985 film Perfect, backstage at the Oscars and couldn’t resist getting a picture with the sweet rescue dog.

Realizing it was meant to be, he adopted the dog for his son Benjamin, giving Peanut a true “Hollywood ending.”

In the years since, the love has still been going strong, and Travolta has shared photos showing his sweet bond with the pup.

One post shows the Saturday Night Fever star and the rescue dog sharing a slice of pizza and cuddling up together in bed. Another shows Peanut licking the actor’s face to wake him up.

It’s clear that Peanut is loved a lot, and many fans and Hollywood colleagues commented that she was one lucky dog.

“Peanut hit the jackpot with the Travolta family!” one person commented.

“I wonder if she knows she’s JOHN TRAVOLTA’s DOG?!!!!!” another wrote.

“She is such a sweet fur baby,” another comment reads. “I can see how much you’re family loves her.”

Thank you to John Travolta and his family for adopting this sweet dog! It’s clear Peanut found the perfect home and she’s brought so much joy to everyone ❤️
