In October 2018, Melinda Blain of Bottle Baby Fosters received two kitten siblings who less than a week old. At the time they had no one but each other.
“The tortie girl was only 85 grams, while her brother was 120 grams. She was the weight of an underweight newborn at five days old,” Blain told Love Meow.
The kittens were found without their mother and with cuts on their legs. Blain immediately treated them with antibiotics and began feeding them so they could grow big and strong.
Blain shared on Instagram that after just one day, Bonsai (tortie) gained a “whopping 15 grams.” Although both kittens had injuries to their legs, Bonsai had a “gnarly wound” while Buddha’s (ginger) were much less severe.
“She quickly caught up in size and healed since she had such an awesome appetite and fighting spirits,” Blain said.
As the kittens continued to grow – their eyes fully opened when they were 10 days old – Blain shared their progress on Instagram.
As they got older their personalities began to show and according to Blain, Bonsai became a “little explorer” while Buddha loved to snuggle. Although their interests might have differed there was one thing they always shared, a love for each other.
The two kittens were always playing with each other and posing for the most adorable photos ever together.
“They always fall asleep on my lap after playtime, and I always find them cuddling together.”
Blain knew that one day she’d have to pass the brother and sister duo on to a forever home, and she hoped that they would be able to go together.
About two months after Blain received the kittens, Bonsai and Buddha found a forever home. Together.
In February 2018, Pippa and Archie, formerly Bonsai and Buddha, and their new mom paid a visit to Blain.
“It makes me so happy to see my former fosters being so loved by their families!” Blain wrote on Instagram.
When Bonsai and Buddha were taken in they were in poor condition, but now look at them!
Thanks to the love and care from Melinda Blain they grew up to be healthy cats, who still love each other dearly.
