This closet is too big, and this closet is too small. It looks like this closet is just right.
That’s probably what went through this sleepy black bear‘s mind when he found himself trapped inside a home in Montana on June 21.
Around 6 a.m. on June 21, Missoula County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a bear stuck inside a Missoula residence. When they arrived they quickly realized freeing the trapped bear wasn’t going to be an easy task.
Not only did the bear show no interest in moving, but somehow the bear managed to lock the deadbolt to the room.
“When deputies knocked on the window, the bear was not the least bit impressed,” the sheriff’s office wrote on Facebook. “He slowly stretched, yawned and, unamused, looked toward the door.”
Eventually the deputies were able to unlock the door, but the bear was still reluctant to leave his cozy corner.
Once it became quite clear the bear wasn’t going anywhere – it didn’t even seemed phased when the deputies recorded a short video – they called in Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.
Wildlife officials were able to tranquilize the bear so it could be removed from the property and relocated.
“The homeowners were glad he was removed in good health, but won’t soon forget when this intruder came looking for the bear necessities!”
I would have screamed if I walked downstairs and saw a bear sleeping in my mudroom!
I’m glad wildlife officials were able to safely remove this sleepy bear. I hope he’s enjoying a nice long nap in his new home.
