It’s always heartbreaking when kittens are found all alone. Sometimes they get separated from their mothers and are left to fend for themselves.
But one little kitten overcame the odds, thanks to the help of some kind rescuers—and now he’s gotten a whole new life.
In October, an emergency medical technician in Mebane, North Carolina discovered a tiny kitten on the side of the road, according to Love Meow.
The cat’s family was nowhere in sight, leading him to conclude the kitten had been abandoned. He didn’t find her a second too soon—he was wandering too close to traffic and his life was in danger.
He rescued the kitten and contacted Stephanie Grantham, co-founder of Sparkle Cat Rescue, who took the little cat in.
She took over for his long-lost mother by providing comfort and care, giving him a warm blanket and bottle feeding him milk.
Once he got a little better, he was taken in by a foster mother named Sarah Kelly.
Sarah named the kitten “Bear”—not because of his resemblance to a different animal, but after survivalist Bear Grylls.
“Just like his namesake, this little man is one strong survivor,” Sarah wrote on Instagram.
Bear grew up fast: not only did he prove to be healthy and strong but his personality began to shine through.
“He is doing well and is so lucky to have been found when he was,” Sarah told Love Meow.
Soon, Bear was ready to go to a forever home.
When a couple met with Bear to possibly adopt him, he greeted his new mom with a big kiss, and it was clear it was meant to be.
Months after being found alone on the side of the road, Bear’s whole life has completely turned around, and he’s settling in well to his new home.
“We are so grateful to his rescuer for stopping to save him and making sure he found his way to us,” Sarah said.
It took many kindhearted people—the medical technician, the foster mom and the forever family—to give this kitten a second chance, and we’re so glad they did. This kitten got the happy ending he deserved!
