It’s always very scary and heartbreaking when a pet goes missing. You search everywhere but eventually begin to fear your pet is gone for good. But it’s important to not lose hope entirely: sometimes pets are found months or even years after they went missing.
That was the case recently, after one woman was left stunned when her long-lost cat was found five years after disappearing! 🙀❤️
Janine Yarrell, from Kent, England, was devastated in 2019 when her 7-year-old cat Bubba went missing. She searched everywhere and looked on social media, but there was no sign of the cat anywhere.
Months and years passed, and Janine assumed her cat was gone for good — surely Bubba, already up in years and used to the comforts of home, wouldn’t be able to survive all these years on her own.
But last week, someone found a matted senior cat hiding under a car. They posted a photo to Facebook, where it caught the eye of Janine. She was stunned — it was Bubba, alive and well five years after her disappearance.
Janine said she couldn’t believe her eyes. Bubba looked different, but she still recognized her and a microchip confirmed it was her long-lost pet.
“Her fur is matted and I’ll get her checked up by a vet, but she’s in relatively good shape considering she’s been living on the streets for five years,” she said, according to the Daily Record.
“I honestly didn’t think I’d see her again. As she’s 12 now and used to the creature comforts of being at home.”
Janine said that Bubba is settling in well back at home, enjoying treats and pets, and seems to remember her old family. “I think she remembers me and is responding to her name she is giving me lots of head bumps and letting me stroke her and I just had her purring and she was making biscuits on her bed,” she posted on a local Facebook group.
With her old friend finally back home safe and sound, Janine encouraged other pet owners to keep their pets’ microchip information up to date, and never lose hope if they go missing.
What a miracle that Bubba is home after being missing for five years! Please share this inspiring story! 😸
