It’s always important for pet owners to keep an eye on what their pets are eating, making sure they’re getting the best-quality and nutritious diet possible.
And it’s every pet owners nightmare to see them fall ill after eating something they shouldn’t have… which is why it’s important to get the word out when there is a dangerous product potentially in your own home.
Now, one major cat food line has voluntarily recalled a batch of one of their products, stating that it can cause harmful side effects if consumed.
On July 3, the The J. M. Smucker Company announced they were recalling a lot of Natural Balance Ultra Premium Chicken & Liver Paté Formula, which has been found to have dangerously high levels of chlorine chloride.
If you use this brand of cat food, you should check the can. The recalled batch will have the following information printed on it:
- Retail UPC Code: 2363353227
- Lot Code: 9217803
- Best If Used By Date: 08 04 2021
If you have this exact in your home, you should throw it away — and if your cat has consumed the product and is exhibiting symptoms, you’re advised to contact your vet immediately.
“Ingesting impacted product may cause nausea with excessive salivation, constricted pupils and poor vision, diarrhea or vomiting to more severe symptoms including difficulty walking, muscle shaking, tremors, irregular heartbeat, difficulty breathing, possible cardiac or respiratory failure and, in extreme situations, death,” a press release says.
No other Natural Balance are affected by the recall. While this only applies to one lot of this specific product, there’s still a small chance you might have it in your home, not knowing the dangers… and when it comes to our pets health, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
Let’s spread the word to make sure everyone is aware of this important product recall, share this story!
