Woman forms special bond with neighbor cat, gets a touching letter after the cat dies

An animal doesn’t have to be our own pet to make an impact on our lives. Many of us have local neighborhood dogs and cats who we see every day and form a bond with.

Like one woman, who formed a bond with a neighbor’s cat — and received a heartbreaking but touching letter after they cat was no longer there.

A woman named Nikki formed a special bond with a cat named Miss B, who belonged to a neighbor in her apartment complex.

The cat would often cross the parking lot to pay her a visit, which she always looked forward to. “We would look forward to seeing each other practically everyday,” Nikki wrote in a Reddit post.

Nikki was the only neighbor Miss B would pay these special visits to, and the cat’s owner encouraged their friendship.

But one day, Miss B suddenly stopped showing up for visits. “Last week, we had noticed she had not been outside,” she wrote. “I had even called out to her this morning… no response.”

Then, Nikki received a letter. It was from the cat’s owner, Brittany, who revealed some heartbreaking news: Miss B was dead.

A month ago, Miss B was sick with what appeared to be FIP or late-stage cancer,” the letter explained. “We tried to treat for FIP, and she seemed to show some improvement at first, but her tests a month later showed otherwise. She has since passed away peacefully at home with the assistance of a vet.”

But touchingly, the letter also thanked Nikki and acknowledged her special friendship with Miss B, saying it made her cat’s life even more special.

I think good friends are hard to come by, and I wanted to let you know how grateful I am that she had a friend like you. She loved your company, and it made her life that much more fulfilling.

Sometimes pets touch the hearts of people even outside their family, and it’s sweet that the owner thought of Nikki, knowing that she too would be saddened by the loss and would want to know what happened to her friend. Brittany also included a collage of photos of Miss B, so Nikki would have something to remember her by.

“Not my cat, but still hurts,” Nikki wrote, sharing the story on Reddit.

Many people online were moved by the story and shared their condolences. “That was super sweet of the owner. My condolences to you both,” one Redditor wrote.

“I’m so sorry for your loss,” another wrote. “I’m so glad the other mommy let you know what happened. I’m sorry you didn’t get a chance to say goodbye. Be thankful that her pain is over, at least, and for every moment you had with her.”

Nikki may not have been Miss B’s owner, but it’s clear they loved each other a lot, and she will miss this sweet cat so much ❤️😢 Thank you to the owner for reaching out in such a thoughtful way.
