Busch is giving three months of free beer to anyone who adopts or fosters a shelter dog

The COVID-19 outbreak has forced everyone to self-isolate and stay in their homes. It can make you go a little stir-crazy, so it’s important to focus on the little joys around the house, like your pets.

Many people have used their “quarantine” to spend some quality time with their cats and dogs, and others have taken the opportunity to adopt one for the first time. Which is good news for shelters, who have been trying to clear their shelters as much as possible.

But one shelter has an unlikely new partner with a surprising new promotion: Busch Beer, who is offering three months of free beer to anyone who fosters or adopts a dog from Midwest Animal Rescue & Services.

The promotion, straightforwardly titled “Foster a Dog, Get Busch,” runs through April 25. Anyone who brings a pet home from the Minnesota animal shelter can apply and get three months of Busch.

That should be more than enough to get you through the self-isolation, and between that and a new friend what more could you need?

While this is a win-win for many people, it’s really the shelter, and the pets, who really benefit.

“During these uncertain and lonelier times, people need an escape: cue the cute puppy memes and photos,” a spokesperson for Busch said in a statement to People. “But as much as we need those cute puppy pics to help get us through social distancing, it’s actually them who need us.”

“Social distancing is better with a furry friend by your side and a cold beer in your hand.”

It seems like an unlikely partnership, but it’s just the latest promotion by a beer company to promote animal adoption.

In February Coors Light had a similar promotion to cover people’s rescue adoption fees. Other breweries have helped by putting adoptable dogs’ photos on their beer cans.

It’s also the latest effort by a beer company to help out during the coronavirus pandemic: craft brewery BrewDog has started making hand sanitizer and giving it to hospitals.

Obviously we don’t encourage anyone to adopt a dog just for some free beer, but we love this promotion: anyone who takes in a rescue animal deserves a few cold ones.
