When an animal life is saved it’s cause for celebration, just as when someone saves the life of an animal they should be dubbed a hero.
Well, there’s no doubting that the man in a new video uploaded to social media is one of them. The astonishing clip, uploaded to Twitter by Johnny Mathis, shows a young woman enter an elevator in Texas with her small Pomeranian behind her.
The situation soon takes a turn for the terrifying, however, when the owner fails to realize the doors have shut behind her, leaving the dog tethered by its leash on the other side.
Needless to say, the dog’s life is now in danger. By some miracle, Johnny happens to have left the elevator at that precise time, and so is in position to act.
He immediately rushes to help the poor pooch, wrestling with its collar until, after some struggle, he can pry it free.

After saving the day, Johnny holds the shaken dog in his arms, making sure it feels safe after the ordeal.
The video has been watched an incredible 18.6 million times since its upload, leaving many social media users astounded by the horror of the situation.
Captioning the video, Johnny wrote: “Y’all I’m shaking!!! I just saved a dog on a leash that didn’t make it onto the elevator with the owner before the door closed! I just happened to turn around as the door closed and it started to lift off the ground I got the leash off in time.”
All we can say is we’re so thankful you were there, Johnny, and that you acted in time to save this dog’s life.
