If you have friends or family who have had a baby recently, there’s a good chance you’ve experienced a “gender reveal.” It’s a trendy way of revealing the gender of your future child, usually by revealing blue for a boy or pink for a girl.
So when Taylor Grant posted photos with her partner in front of a a box reading “Girl or Boy?” you’d of course assume it was a gender reveal photoshoot:
However, this couple was putting a twist on the tradition that was no less adorable.
Taylor was not pregnant at all… but she did have a new bundle of joy in her house:
A new rescue dog!
Yes, the “gender reveal” was actually a creative way of revealing their new 8-year-old Shih Tzu, Brandy.
“We are absolutely obsessed with her, and so grateful she came into our lives,” Taylor wrote on Facebook.
The new arrival was adopted from No Paw Left Behind Animal Rescue. Like most rescue dogs her age, Brandy is getting used to her new home.
“She’s been a huge blessing to my little family, and loves tummy rubs and treats,” Taylor wrote. “She is warming up everyday realizing my home is her forever home.”
Maybe it’s not as momentous as having a baby, but any time a shelter dog gets rescued is an occasion worth celebrating.
Props to this couple for finding such a clever way to share the news!
“She’s a sweetheart, and I’m so excited to share her with all of you!” Taylor wrote.
(But she also made it clear that this is the only “gender reveal” she’ll be having anytime soon: “P.S. I will not be having a human baby anytime soon haha!”)
Thank you to this couple for rescuing this dog! Remember to “adopt, don’t shop!”
