If you’re anything like me, you’ll simply love stories of lost pets being reunited with their owners after months, sometimes years, of being away.
Well, if that’s the case then we’ve got a treat for you.
Footage has emerged showing a dog who had reportedly been missing for months crying tears of joy after getting to see his human again!
Coco the dog vanished one day from his home in the Philippines, leaving his owner beside himself with a sense of loss.
His family set out to find him, but sadly it was to no avail. No one had seen the dog, and it appeared that he was gone for good.
Coco’s owner Rustico Samson Jr. explained to The Dodo: “I cried. There was so much sorrow, so much pain. Coco is more than a pet. He’s family.”
Rustico said he searched “every corner” for Coco, often doing so in tears. He let friends, strangers and passersby know what his dog looked like, telling them to call him if they saw or heard tell of a dog matching Coco’s description.
Time went by, but Rustico didn’t give up hope. Eventually, his tenacity was rewarded when, three months after Coco’s disappearance, word reached his ears about a dog that sounded familiar living in a parking garage.
Rustico rushed to the garage and found his beloved Coco, who ran immediately towards him, every bit as delighted.
Rustico said of the reunion: “Right at that moment, when I saw a dog lying on the floor of that parking garage, I knew it was him. I was a thousand times sure that it was Coco.
“I was overwhelmed. I was so happy. I think Coco felt the same way at that moment. You could hear him crying like a baby.”
You can see footage of the pair’s reunion here:
The poor pooch was a little worse for wear when Rustico found him, and had lost weight, but other than that, he was healthy. Now he’s safe and sound, back where he belongs, and it’s safe to say he’s extremely happy about it!
Rustico, told The Dodo:
“When it comes to having a pet, it doesn’t matter if you’re rich or poor, as long as you have heart and love to them like family. When someone in your family is lost, you never give up.”
Wise words if ever I heard them! I’m so glad Rustico and Coco were reunited – I simply don’t know what I would do if I lost my dog!
Pets are more than mere animals, they’re family. Anyone who’s ever owned a dog will know this.
