Firefighters are true heroes who can be counted on to save lives in an emergency, whether human or animal.
Recently, firefighters in Utah saved a dog from a burning apartment building, and in an incredible moment revived him using CPR.
In the early hours of September 16, an apartment building in Midvale, Utah caught fire. Firefighters from the Unified Fire Authority rushed to the scene.
After putting out the flames, they discovered that there was an unresponsive puppy inside a kennel in the home, according to FOX 13. They raced into the building and got the dog outside.
In a remarkable moment, the firefighters performed CPR on the dog — and miraculously, they were soon able to successfully resuscitate him.
“Not all heroes wear capes sometimes they carry leashes,” United Fire wrote on Instagram. “Moments like these remind us how lucky we are to protect not only our community but also our furry family members. Grateful for the chance to save lives, human and animal alike.”
Many fire departments receive training on how to give CPR to animals, and have special equipment to provide them with oxygen. This extra preparation is life-saving when animals become trapped in burning buildings and suffer smoke inhalation.
Many people commented on the post thanking the firefighters for their actions. “Thank you guys for saving this sweet pups life. 👏👏 Y’all are heroes,” one person wrote.
“Very well done heroes!” reads another comment. “We are grateful for having been blessed with firefighters,” someone else wrote.
According to FOX 13, the fire appears to have begun as a cooking fire. The apartment building has an estimate $100,000 in damages and residents have been displaced, but thankfully there have been no other reported injuries.
Thank god for firefighters, who are always there to save the day. We’re so glad this dog was rescued from the fire and revived with CPR!
