French bulldog couple announces pregnancy with elaborate maternity photoshoot

Once you hit a certain age, maybe somewhere around your 30s, your social media pages suddenly turn into a never ending stream of baby announcements.

Suddenly, every single person you’ve ever met is an expectant parent, each trying to outdo the last with elaborate pregnancy announcements. If I had a nickel for every photo I’ve seen of a young couple posing outside in the woods with a due date written on a chalk sign in fancy lettering I’d be very rich.

But amidst it all, one couple’s pregnancy photoshoot really stands out as truly original… because they’re both dogs. It’s the greatest maternity shoot since Beyonce’s.

French bulldogs Cozette and Boudreaux are expecting children, and naturally decided they had to announce it to all their friends online. Like so many Pinterest and Instagram loving young couples, they decided to go all out with a professional photoshoot.

The honor went to Cristal Malek, a professional photographer based in El Campo, Texas.

“With a focus on capturing emotional portraiture and once in a lifetime moments, Cristal is able to reflect both personality and tenderness in her work,” Cristal’s Facebook bio reads.

“Being a mother first, she understands how important it is to create family memories and to preserve the moments that are precious to you.”

So naturally, she was the perfect choice to capture the miracle of motherhood, as embodied by a pregnant French bulldog:

It’s a truly breathtaking photoshoot, and now these dogs have gone viral, getting picked up by several news outlets. The photographer responded to the attention her photos were generating.

“Who knew I was photographing super stars?!” Cristal wrote on Facebook.

But she took the opportunity to make a more serious point about the importance of adopting: “There are many loving pets waiting for a forever home or foster family today at your local shelters just trying to find their happily ever after,” she wrote.

“My two furry children are in fact rescues, I couldn’t imagine life without them.”

But more importantly, she announced that she’d be re-teaming with these photogenic bulldog lovers again, once their babies are born:

“Today I’m heading out to capture their newborn bouncing bundles of joy,” she wrote.
