It’s truly incredible how brave dogs can be. They have a remarkable ability to sense danger and step up to save the day.
Dogs not only save people, but other dogs. Like one heroic pup who put himself in harm’s way to save his best friend.
A dachshund named Winston is best friends with a Chiweenie named Mijo, and recently he proved just how loyal he is to his buddy.
Last Saturday, the two dogs got out of the house and were confronted by a wild mountain lion, who pounced and grabbed Mijo in its jaws.
Seeing his friend in danger, Winston jumped into action. He went face-to-face with the mountain lion, chasing and barking at the animal.
His bravery paid off: the mountain lion let Mijo out of its grasp and retreated, according to 9News.
Mijo’s owner rushed him to the emergency vet clinic. Unfortunately, he lost his right eye in the attack and has been experiencing neurological issues.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to fund Mijo’s recovery, which currently has over $8,000.
But Mijo is lucky to be alive, and it’s all thanks to the heroism of his best friend. Both dogs’ owners praised Winston as a hero.
“This is his best friend, so I’m not surprised that when he was screaming he chased after him,” Winston’s owner told 9News. “He’s got a lot of heart.”
“A 20 pound dog with the courage of a 200 pound dog,” Mijo’s owner added. “He’s a hero!”
What a hero! Thank you to Winston for bravely stepping up to save his friend! We hope Mijo recovers soon!
