Dogs can be such such caring and loyal animals—not just to their humans but to other animals, too.
We’ve seen so many stories of loving dogs stepping up to take care of their pet siblings and animals in need, and it’s always inspiring to see an unlikely animal friendship.
Like this dog, who became like a parent to some adorable young goats.
Loryn the golden retriever lives on the farm of her owner Andrea Holley. She’s been surrounded by all kinds of animals her whole life, and she loves every one of them.
“She’s around all the farm animals all the time, so she’s seen it all,” Andrea told The Dodo. “She is truly a mother hen and takes in every baby we have here as her own.”
A few years ago, Andrea rescued some young goats and gave them a home on the farm.
Naturally, Loryn stepped up to be their protector and immediately fell in love with the kids, and they loved the dog right back.
“They loved Loryn right away. They are together all day, every day.”
Andrea named the goats Mia, Henry, Delilah and Daisy Mae. They were very young at the time of their arrival, and the rescue goats needed to be bottle fed.
Soon they were growing up and settling into their new forever home, with their loyal golden retriever there to guide them.
“Loryn is my right-hand man and always helps corral the babies when we’re outside or round them up while playing inside,” Andrea told The Dodo.
“She most definitely thinks they are her babies.”
Three years later, the goats are more grown up but they’re still inseparable from Loryn. You can follow their adventures on Loryn’s Instagram page.
