Mandy Moore mourns after death of her dog Jackson

Mandy Moore mourns death of “beautiful” dog Jackson: “We love you forever”

No matter who you are, saying goodbye to a beloved pet is one of the most painful things in the world. Today fans are sending prayers and condolences to Mandy Moore, after the actress announced the death of her dog of over 14 years 😢

Read her heartwarming tribute to her late dog:

The A Walk to Remember star, 40, announced on Instagram on November 1 that her dog of over 14 years, Jackson, has died. She remembered him as a “beautiful boy” and “excellent protector.

“You weren’t big on other animals or the kids but you loved in your own way and knew how loved you were by all of us,” Moore wrote. “You had a big bark that seemed to scared some folks but you were actually the most gentle guy who was secretly scared of his own shadow.”

“My Jackie D. My sweet old man. I hope you find Joni and have a giant pool to chase tennis balls and swim until your heart’s content,” the This is Us star wrote, referring to her dog Joni who unexpectedly passed away in 2020.

“We love you forever. Thanks for choosing us,” Moore wrote. She also shared a slideshow of photos of Jackson over the years, spending time at home with Moore, her husband Taylor Goldsmith, and their three young children.

Moore had previously opened up about some of Jackson’s health problems in the past: in 2019, he underwent emergency surgery after eating a tennis ball, and in 2021 had a 6-pound mass removed from his spleen.

The “Candy” singer is a lover of dogs, especially rescue dogs. Earlier this year, Moore announced that she had adopted a puppy named Marshmallow who had been found as a stray wandering the streets. She called the dog “the most unexpectedly wonderful addition to our gang,” who resembled the late Joni.

“We weren’t looking for another dog but he was looking for us and the fact that he looks remarkably like our dear Joni made it too impossible to ignore.”

Saying goodbye to a dog is always heartbreaking, especially one who has been part of your life for over 14 years. Rest in peace to Mandy Moore’s sweet dog Jackson 💔
