Owner leaves dog out in snow all night – then neighbor can’t take it anymore and does the right thing

A Detroit woman couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw a trembling dog standing in her neighbor’s yard a few weeks ago. It was a cold December day and the snow was deep and very cold.

How could her neighbor just leave his dog out there in the freezing weather?

Fortunately, she decided to intervene. But she wasn’t prepared for how her neighbor would react.

The woman didn’t want to confront her neighbor herself but chose to call an animal rescue organization in the area.

Theresa Sumpter from Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue received the call and immediately went to the house.

The poor dog had already been out for the whole night and was struggling terribly in the cold. One by one, she picked up her paws over and over to protect them from the cold snow.

The staff from the animal rescue knocked on the owner’s door and explained that their treatment of the dog was animal cruelty. In addition, it’s illegal to keep a dog out overnight when the temperature is below freezing. They asked if they could take the dog into their care.

The owner refused to listen. Instead, the person closed the door in their faces and waited for them to leave.

Fortunately, after some persuasion from the neighbor — the same person who had called the animal rescue — the owner agreed to give up the dog.

The dog was incredibly grateful to be out of the cold snow. Her paws were swollen and she had frostbite after the long night outdoors. But otherwise, she was okay.

The dog had to spend one night at the vet’s before she was ready to go to her new foster home. She is now named Blizzard.

Blizzard is doing better than ever. She has new friends in her foster home and will never be stuck outdoors in winter again.

A huge THANK YOU to the neighbor who intervened and helped Blizzard get a new home!

Please share and remind everyone that leaving dogs outside in freezing temperatures is animal cruelty!
