Shelter dog spent over 800 days waiting for a home — now she’s finally “hit the jackpot”

All shelter dogs dream of finding their forever home, but it takes some longer than others. Some wait months or even years before getting adopted.

Like one sweet dog named Queenie, who waited over 800 days in the shelter — but now her luck has finally turned around.

Queenie, an 8-and-a-half-year-old dog, was in the care of the Humane Society of Forsyth County, Georgia since 2022, and for a long time struggled to find a perfect home.

In social media posts, the shelter described her as a sweet, affectionate dog with a lot of love to give, who is “young and vibrant as ever” despite her advancing age: “She has so much love left to give,” they wrote.

Queenie wanted a home where she could be the only pet, the “Sole recipient of love and attention” where she could “live out her golden years in comfort and happiness.”

Due to her age, Queenie possesses a calm demeanor and enjoys leisurely walks. While these qualities make her an ideal pet for certain families, it took a lot of time for her to find just the right fit: she spent over 800 days in the shelter.

But this month, her luck finally turned around. After 801 days in the shelter, Queenie “hit the jackpot” and was finally adopted!

The Humane Society of Forsyth County announced on October 19 that Queenie had found a “loving family who is already showering her with all the love and affection she deserves.”

“We couldn’t be happier for her!” they added. “While we’re going to miss seeing her adorable face every day, knowing she’s in her perfect home makes it all worth it. Thank you to everyone who supported her along the way!”

We are so happy Queenie has finally been adopted and will spend the rest of her life in a perfect loving home ❤️🥰
