It was Matheus and María’s big day — but it would prove as important a day for one particular homeless and lonely dog with nowhere to go.
However, not everyone would have responded quite the way the happy bride and groom did — when he suddenly interrupted their wedding.
Matheus and Marília from São Paulo, Brazil, hoped for an outdoor wedding last month — but the weather had other plans. As a storm loomed and rain came pouring down, the couple decided to set up a big tent for their wedding.
But it wasn’t just the bridal couple and their guests who hoped to stay dry that day.
As the guests settled down in their places, a homeless dog suddenly walked into the tent, seeking shelter from the rain. The dog was quickly removed by the guests — but his eviction didn’t last very long.
“As the ceremony started, to everyone’s surprise, it was the dog who came in when the bridal chorus began to play,” Marília told The Dodo.
Despite the odd sight, the guests could not have imagined what would happen next.
Borrowing the Dress
The dog was again removed by the guests and the ceremony could continue as planned — this time, with the bride at the altar. But just as the couple read their vows to each other, the shrewd little dog came back.
“[He] entered and laid down to sleep on my veil,” says Marília.
This time no one had the heart to throw him back into the storm again — especially not the bride. So there he lay, comfortably snuggling in her veil.
“It was a very pleasant surprise for me, because I love animals,” she said. “I liked it very much.”
As the couple’s big day came to its end and the rain calmed down, the four-legged guest disappeared again, just as mysteriously as he’d walked in.
New family member
The couple couldn’t get their special dog guest out of their head. They attempted to locate him. Over a week went by before the couple managed to find him, but they eventually managed to trace the stray dog. That’s when they made a very special decision: they would adopt him.
The couple decided to name their new family Snoop.
“He came home, and I showered him. He played a lot, ate, drank water. He is very happy and slept super good the first night,” says Marília.
It turns out that uninvited dog Snoop couldn’t have chosen a better wedding to crash. He not only got a fun evening, but also a new and loving family!
Feel free to congratulate the newly weds and their new family member in the comments!
