Recently, a 121-pound St. Bernard named Daisy became trapped on top of England’s highest peak. She had been hiking with her owner when she began displaying signs of pain and collapsed.

Since it was evident Daisy could no longer continue the descent, and her owners couldn’t carry her, they called for help.

“Daisy’s owners were able to keep her well-hydrated and fed until team members were able to get on scene with a stretcher to help get them moving again quickly as the weather was due to deteriorate later that evening,” the Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team said in a statement.

Before reaching Daisy’s location, the rescue team researched the best way to carry out a rescue for a St. Bernard to help speed up the process.

When they arrived they were able to win her over with a few treats. And after administering something for her pain the team of 16 volunteers were able to situate Daisy on a stretcher, meant for humans, and begin the trek down Scafell Pike, which sits at 3,209 feet above sea level.

“She apparently feels a bit guilty and slightly embarrassed about letting down the image of her cousins bouncing across the Alpine snows with barrels of brandy around their necks,” the team joked.

Daisy is now safe and resting comfortably at home.

Thank you to the Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team for helping Daisy! Share to send them your thanks.
