No matter who you are, it’s always heartbreaking to say goodbye to a beloved pet, especially when they pass away so suddenly.
Now, HGTV star Ty Pennington is mourning after his dog Georgia “unexpectedly” died over the weekend, as he revealed in a touching social media post.
Pennington, a carpenter, designer and TV personality known for hosting the Emmy-winning series Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on ABC, broke the sad news in an Instagram post on October 21.
The world lost a special girl,” Pennington wrote. “Georgia passed away unexpectedly at home in Florida yesterday. Something we were not prepared for.”
“Life has a cruel way of reminding us sometimes, just how quickly it can all be over. We’ll miss you Georgia.”
Pennington posted a photo and video of him and Georgia in better days, enjoying nice times at the beach. He wrote that he hopes Georgia gets “endless beach walks” in heaven.
Many people commented to express their condolences. “I’m so sorry about your unexpected loss! I’ve gone thru it and it is a very sad time so I feel your heartbreak,” one person wrote.
“So sorry for your loss,” another wrote. “Georgia was so beautiful.”
In a Stories post, Pennington shared another photo of Georgia with his other dog Dory, writing that Dory is “going to miss her sweet friend.”
Pennington has posted about Georgia in the past. In a 2019 Father’s Day post, he shared a photo of the dog, calling her “daddy’s little girl,” and also shared a pic of the dog licking his face in 2018.
Pennington, who currently hosts HGTV shows Rock The Block and Battle on the Beach, is also the owner of another dog named Phoebe.
Rest in peace to Ty Pennington’s sweet dog Georgia — may they be together over the rainbow bridge one day 🌈🙏
