US sends protective body armor to heroic Ukrainian patrol dogs

The war in Ukraine has been going on for months now, and countless Ukrainians have been risking their lives to defend their home country from Russian forces.

And animals, too, have been doing their part: animals like explosive-detecting dogs have played an invaluable part in military operations.

And now, an inspiring gift is keeping these brave dogs safe from harm: the United States has reportedly provided them with bulletproof vests.

According to CNN, the protective gear was sent by US police dog trainers.

These dogs work alongside police officers, combat engineers and border guards in Ukraine. Just like their human counterparts, they’re putting their lives at risk in a dangerous combat zone, and can use all the help they can get.

Ever since the conflict began in February, dogs have been on the front lines in Ukraine, aiding soldiers in the defense.

These dogs provide an invaluable service, doing tasks that humans can’t — like Patron, a heroic dog who has gone viral by detecting over a hundred Russian explosives, helping to save countless lives.
