Most of us who have dogs spend most of our time teaching them how to behave, where to sleep and how to follow commands. But in the end it’s the dog that probably taught us more.
I often hear people with pets say they would like to be more like their dogs or cats.
Suelen Schaumloeffel from Brazil adopted puppy Lana, a dog who was rescued from the streets.
What Suelen did not know then was that this mischievous puppy Lana would end up teaching Suelen an important lesson.
Lana was rescued from a life on the streets of Brazil. She had no one to take care of her, no one who gave her food and no one to give her love.
But one day she was adopted by Suelen Schaumloeffel and given a loving home with all the safety and warmth that she deserved.

Safe and loved
Lana had finally got the family she could have only dreamed about as an unloved homeless pup. But she had not forgotten how tough life was living on the street.

As the weather got colder her new doggy mama brought her a lovely warm blanket so she could snuggle it and stay warm during the night.
Lana caught sight of a street dog through the family fence in the garden, she felt that this dog needed help. So Lana went and fetched her blanket and threw it out through the fence to share it with her new friend.

“My best friend has reminded me of something important: generosity,” writes Suelen on her Facebook page.
Suelen shared the image on her Facebook page and received a huge response. The picture of when Lana shares the blanket with her new friend has received over 25,000 shares and over 45,000 likes. And it’s not that hard to understand why!
Suelen has seen the homeless dog around the area but he runs away whenever they try to get close. They’re hoping that, if he’s lost, they can help him find his way back home. In the meantime, they’ve been leaving out food and water for him.
This is a perfect reminder of how much we can learn from animals. They are so much smarter than we think and often have bigger hearts than humans.
