When it comes to your wedding, you want everything to be perfect—you don’t want any unexpected guests interrupting things.
But sometimes, animals have their own plans. That was the case for one couple who was hilariously “photobombed” by some local wildlife, providing a wedding photoshoot no one would ever forget.
A couple named Morgan & Luke tied the knot in Saugatuck, Michigan last summer. After the ceremony photographer Lurenda Marie Bennett took them outside for their photoshoot.
Everything was perfect—the scenery was beautiful, it was the “golden hour” right before sunset… but there was one thing they didn’t plan on: a wild deer!
As the couple posed near a rustic wooden fence, the deer decided to check out what was going on.
“As soon as we arrived, the deer looked up and just casually walked over to the bride and groom,” Bennett told The Dodo.
But it soon became clear the deer wasn’t just there to wish them well—he was after a snack. The deer went straight for the bride’s bouquet… not because he wanted to get married next, but because he was hungry.
As the deer chowed down on the flower arrangement, everyone had a laugh.
Many people would have shooed the deer away and continued as planned, but this group had a sense of humor… and saw an opportunity for some priceless candid photos.
“We were all kind of giggling and looking at each other like, ‘What’s going on? What should we do?’” Bennett said.
“Morgan’s expressions were priceless — they just kind of made the photos.”
Yes, the deer really ate the bouquet—he chowed down on so many flowers that it was unusable, and for the bouquet toss Morgan just used a bridesmaid’s arrangement.
But incredibly, the deer didn’t eat all the flowers… he left one behind, which they considered a blessing.
“When we walked back to the area where we dropped the bouquet, the deer was gone but there was one white rose still intact,” Bennett told The Dodo.
“She picked it up and joked, ‘It’s the final rose.’”
It’s the kind of special, spontaneous wedding moment everyone dreams of. Sometimes nature has a way of just giving you the perfect wedding gift.
